When I created Vanilla Absolue, my aim was not simply to showcase vanilla as we know it from pastries and desserts, but to explore its full, complex beauty in perfumery.
When revisiting my vanilla fragrance, I also revisited the very core of vanilla itself and added an extra dose of it in the form of a natural vanilla extract, to render it more complete and full‑bodied.
At the heart of this fragrance lies a carefully balanced vanilla core, built from both pure molecules and exquisite natural extracts:
• Vanillin
• Ethylvanillin
• Vanilla CO₂ extract (12% vanillin)
• Siam benzoin (Styrax tonkinensis)
The vanilla CO₂ extract is particularly special. Unlike plain vanillin, which isolates one single molecule, this extract contains a broad spectrum of compounds. Only 12% is vanillin, while the rest is a symphony of natural constituents that contribute to its depth and complexity. It brings facets of dried fruit, soft woods, warm tobacco, and even subtle floral notes that make natural vanilla so captivating. This CO₂ extract is among the finest available, offering a true, multi‑dimensional vanilla experience.
To enrich this warm vanilla‑ambery heart, I also wove in a delicate rose accord. Several of you asked about this, and yes, there is rose in Vanilla Absolue. It features Bulgarian steam‑distilled rose oil, paired with geranium, to soften the composition and add a floral lift. This touch of rose brings elegance and balance to the darker facets of vanilla, benzoin, and the spicy‑woody, ambery background with a present tobacco and tonka.
The result is a textured, sophisticated fragrance where naturals transform the expected into the extraordinary.
