And yes, this is day five by now of our advent calendar. Yesterday’s winner is Hotlanda Linda. (please send me your address at: perfumer(at)tauerperfumes.com) I thank you all for your comments, a big thank you to all of you. I appreciate a lot.
Today , I am a Boudoir kind of a sales event. A first, an experiment, all day, and it is a tie versus notie question thing. I say: T-shirt, no tie.
And today …well guess what: we celebrate the next 4 star fragrance in the newest newsletter from Perfumes, the guide: Incense extrême.
Thus, today I pick one out of you who leaves a comment and send the winner a bottle of Incense extrême. It got four star by Luca Turin who said among other things…..“Incense Extrême is less incense and less extrême than you’d think. â€
And if you leave a comment here, you might win the Incense extrême and judge for yourself…
December 5th, 2008 at 7:39 am
I did not need Luca Turin to tell me how GREAT incense extreme is. I loved it at first sniff!
December 5th, 2008 at 7:49 am
Oh goodness! I adore Incense Extreme! Happy 5th of December!
December 5th, 2008 at 7:49 am
I really need to get a copy of Perfumes: The Guide. Mr Turin seems to be writing some good stuff lately. Congratulations, Andy! I’ve read some of his reviews online and find them occasionally confusing, to say the least. Sometimes he doesn’t even attempt to describe the scent, but rambles on with some obtuse, surrealistic description of what could be a scene from a Bergman film. However, I just finished reading his free “Fall Update” pdf and was pleased to discover that he agrees with me on the excellence of Baldessarini (*****)!
Incense… currently I’m on an amber quest… maybe I should take a detour!
December 5th, 2008 at 7:50 am
Oh, dear. This is the other incense suited for moments of solitude, that transports you immediately to a wooden temple under the scorching sun in arid but insect infested expanses. Stunning.
December 5th, 2008 at 7:50 am
So must spend my money on *others* but so want to buy the missing Tauer’s for me instead… be a good boy darnit!
December 5th, 2008 at 8:10 am
I’d love to win Incense Extreme :-)
December 5th, 2008 at 8:46 am
Andy,
Continued “congrats” on another stellar Turin review. Wishing you all the best.
December 5th, 2008 at 9:09 am
Herzlichen Glückwunsch Andy!! So glad to hear that…it’s obvious that the people who write here and know your scents don’t need any Luca to tell them what’s good and what’s not…but it certainly is good publicity..and a reward for your work!
I still keep preferring my first love Reverie au Jardin (lavender freak here!)..but I.Extreme is great..specially that nice, warm, skin-scent that you get after about 5 minutes…
Greetings from non-stop rainy Spain everybody!!
December 5th, 2008 at 9:14 am
Congratulations to another stellar review. But then, I.E. deserved no less….
December 5th, 2008 at 9:16 am
Bonjour Andy,
Luca et Tania sont de bons conseils mais vos parfums parlent en effet d’eux mêmes. J’aime beaucoup Incense Extrême et espère le porter bientôt.
A demain,
Rebecca
December 5th, 2008 at 9:24 am
Well….with questions it was more interesting :)))
People want questions! :)) And bottles! :)))
December 5th, 2008 at 9:42 am
Definitely no tie, Andy :) Maybe a nice shirt unbuttoned a little at the top! ;)
December 5th, 2008 at 9:42 am
Wow, another full bottle giveaway - you’re spoiling us! And congrats on another great review.
December 5th, 2008 at 9:45 am
Incense Extreme is a trip to a marvelous place that you can´t take your mind off after you returned….
December 5th, 2008 at 9:46 am
I have not yet tried either Incense Rose or Incense extreme, though I am a sucker for incense in fragrances. They seem so evocative of ones imagination. Congratulations to the great review by Luca :)
December 5th, 2008 at 9:55 am
Sounds like good stuff!
December 5th, 2008 at 9:57 am
Yummy, I love incense fragrances. Glad you got such great reviews. Haven’t picked up the Guide myself yet.
December 5th, 2008 at 10:25 am
That’s a rather good evaluation, four stars.
I’d say a tie - yes, but something not formal, you can wear a non-formal tie:)
December 5th, 2008 at 10:26 am
Well… I love Incense rose and was just thinking of buying my husband a bottle of the Extreme, so I guess you ARE Santa. Hope hope hope. Congrats on the reviews, they’re two witty brains (and noses).
December 5th, 2008 at 10:31 am
Congratulations Andy on another well deserved words of appreciation from Mr Turin!
Today you’re giving away Incense Extreme… What about tomorrow? It’s Saint Nicholas day :o).
December 5th, 2008 at 10:55 am
I guess you should seriously think to extend your Incense Extreme fragrance with a bath-line :o)
How is it going at Boudoir? Will you share the pictures and impressions? Good luck and have fun there!
December 5th, 2008 at 10:55 am
I vote no tie. And Incense Extreme is my summertime staple. Some hot days it is the only scent that will do.
December 5th, 2008 at 11:01 am
I still haven’t tried Incense Extreme, but today I’m wearing Lonestar Memories (I bought a couple of samples from The Perfumed Court), and it is SO SO GORGEOUS! My absolute favourite leather scent ever!
December 5th, 2008 at 11:17 am
Dear Andy, at Luca Turin will soon not suffice enough of stars for you. Success in Boudoir kind and good weekend to you and W-factor.
At us in the street-28C, the winter has come :-)
December 5th, 2008 at 11:20 am
Hm, I lost my sample of IE. I wish I could find it again. Oh well, I still hope I win.
December 5th, 2008 at 11:26 am
I vote interesting t-shirt, no tie. You’ll have ample opportunity to be all stiff and formal in the future, no doubt, so if there’s a chance of getting away with more informal styles… Congrats on yet another deserved high rating!
December 5th, 2008 at 11:30 am
I’ve read a lot of favorable comments about Incense Extreme - let’s hope I can win a bottle!
December 5th, 2008 at 11:36 am
Congratulations for getting four stars, Mr.Tauer!!
Mr Turin also says “high quality, modest packaging…”!
I’d like to win Incense Extreme.
December 5th, 2008 at 12:05 pm
Love your Incense Extreme! *on his knees praying*
December 5th, 2008 at 12:10 pm
incense and advent…what a natural combination
December 5th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
Ich gratuliere zu den vier Sternen!
And I would love to try Incense Extrême!
December 5th, 2008 at 12:38 pm
I love incense extreme!!
December 5th, 2008 at 12:45 pm
Herr Tauer have you ever smelled Norma Kamali’s Incense? it’s redolent of fine aged roquefort and difficult to stay your hand from drizzling honey over it, definitely something to be experienced. I’m not really acquainted with Incense Extreme, as the other beauty has had my nose in the “incense series”…
December 5th, 2008 at 1:35 pm
Congrats on another four-star review! Please enter me in what promises to be another crowded draw….
December 5th, 2008 at 2:01 pm
Congratulations on one more excellent review! I just loove incense perfumes, esp. in this cold rainy weather.
December 5th, 2008 at 2:08 pm
Happy 5th! I vote dressy t-shirt, no tie OR casual shirt, fun tie. Have a great day! Debby H.
December 5th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
Another deserved recognition from Turin.
December 5th, 2008 at 2:37 pm
Sounds fascinating!
December 5th, 2008 at 2:44 pm
I think it´s so cool that through other fanatics you get to know more and more excellent houses and perfumers.
December 5th, 2008 at 3:01 pm
congrats on another great review!
December 5th, 2008 at 3:10 pm
Incense extreme sounds lovely, I’d love to try it.
December 5th, 2008 at 3:15 pm
More well-deserved stars for your work — great stuff!! Frankincense and iris is an intriguing combination; both have done well on my skin separately, so together could be quite interesting. I see some shopping in my future! ;)
A nice t-shirt worn with a laid-back attitude is good for most occasions in my book..
December 5th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
Congratulations on your four stars!
December 5th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
NAKED BABY!! :D Oh alright, you might want to wear something. Like, a fragrance? ;)
Very curious to how Incense Extrême is!
December 5th, 2008 at 3:24 pm
Oh, I’d love to win a bottle of this!
December 5th, 2008 at 3:40 pm
Do you have any favorite incense fragrances from other houses? It is one of the notes that hooked me into niche perfumes. I see they reviewed quite a few of your perfumes this quarter, cheers!
December 5th, 2008 at 3:51 pm
Please enter me in the draw for the Incense Extreme!
December 5th, 2008 at 3:53 pm
Incense - warm and cuddly on a cold winter’s day!
December 5th, 2008 at 4:04 pm
I lurve Incense Extrême & wore it just yesterday! My samp’s nearly empty so…
Thanks Andy, for being so kind :)
December 5th, 2008 at 4:05 pm
I’ll have to check out the Guide review. I was surprised by the beautiful orris note in this. Another one I’d love to own!
December 5th, 2008 at 4:06 pm
sounds like a perfect winter fragrance!
December 5th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Incense extreme is extremely beautiful. Please enter me in the drawing.
December 5th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
Happy Day 5!
December 5th, 2008 at 4:28 pm
TWO four star fragrance recognitions from Luca Turin?!! That is quite a sweet extreme, Andy, and highly, highly commendable for your artistic efforts; my nose quivers in anticipation…. *beams*
Happy 5th day of Advent, Andy, and I say go with the T-shirt, coupled with an air of casual refinement…. ;]
December 5th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
Well, I love incense fragrances, so count me in! :-)
December 5th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
My decant of Incense Extreme is almost empty. I need a full bottle! This is getting interesting..;)
December 5th, 2008 at 4:40 pm
Wonderful! Please enter me in your drawing!
December 5th, 2008 at 4:55 pm
I am with you on the no-tie. It would be thrilling to win a bottle of Incense Extreme.
enjoy the weekend!
H
December 5th, 2008 at 5:11 pm
Andy, please enter me in the drawing for Incense Extreme! This has to be one of my favorites of your creations.
December 5th, 2008 at 5:13 pm
On this fifth day of December, I am worn out from travel, and the desire to lounge around in cotton knits is almost overwhelming. However, for professional appearances, since I am not a rock star, even of the perfume variety, I must wear something with a crisper silhouette. Have fun at your even, and whatever shirt you choose, leave the tie behind.
December 5th, 2008 at 5:17 pm
No tie…
Thanks again for giving me a fun reason to log on each day!
Have a good weekend!
December 5th, 2008 at 5:27 pm
Hi Andy
I went through my sample of I E in a few breaths, so a bottle would be full of inspiration. Doesn’t matter what you wear as long as it’s an accessory to a Tauer perfume.
December 5th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
Wow - a full bottle of Incense extrême??? That would a wonderful treat!!!
December 5th, 2008 at 5:34 pm
Hmmm… hot coals smothered w/ incense in an anceint, majestic temple near the sculptered dunes… Xena and Gabrielle probably (hopefully) had a late-nite encounter there….
December 5th, 2008 at 5:35 pm
I loved incense extreme the one time I tried it. I have so many incense perfumes in my (relatively) limited collection, but god knows, I’d welcome another bottle. Have a great, tie-less day!
December 5th, 2008 at 5:51 pm
Please enter me into the drawing! Thanks so much!
December 5th, 2008 at 5:51 pm
here’s to extreme incense! and tee shirts!
December 5th, 2008 at 5:54 pm
I’m in! Thanks again.
December 5th, 2008 at 5:55 pm
I have my fingers crossed…..I love incense.
Once in a while a man looks great in a tie. I’ll be the dissenting vote!
December 5th, 2008 at 6:18 pm
Hmmm I wonder if I would agree with them… I sure whish to find out : )
Either way, incense rules!
December 5th, 2008 at 6:24 pm
have a lovely weekend.
The rhythm of the weekend, with its birth, its planned gaieties, and its announced end, followed the rhythm of life and was a substitute for it.

December 5th, 2008 at 6:25 pm
Incense!
December 5th, 2008 at 6:36 pm
Dear sir:
I would love to smell Incense Extreme!
Count me in!
December 5th, 2008 at 7:03 pm
I do enjoy this scent, as with so many others - my sample is nearing the end.
Would love to be entered into the draw, Thank You!
December 5th, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Incense extreme, for me, is a connection to the past and a pathway to the future. I wear it always, just because. . .MaryAnne
December 5th, 2008 at 7:21 pm
Incense Extreme is so lovely…
December 5th, 2008 at 7:49 pm
I have a big tie collection but never wear them. Girls don’t have as much opportunity for it.
Incense Extreme is on my to-try list - it sounds amazing!
December 5th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
I have not tried Incense Extreme yet. Please enter me in the drawing. Due to time differences, you probably have already made the tie/tee shirt decision, so I’ll not vote.
December 5th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
Oh, Incense Extreme is my favorite! Please, pick me! :-)
December 5th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
I adore Incense Extreme and would very much like to win a bottle… it reminds me of your yummy Eau des Epices and is endlessly warm and cozy for winter. Hugs from a lurker, Andy!
December 5th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
As my husband stole my bottle of Incense Extreme I really need one just for myself!!!!
December 5th, 2008 at 9:50 pm
I love incense so I have to find out how this smells. =D
December 5th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
I really don’t think much of LT’s reviews but I think he was right on with his comments regarding Incense Extreme
As for tie vs no tie. I vote for no tie. Incense Extreme seems more to me like a casual fragrance.
December 5th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
I love Incense Extreme! Thanks for having this contest!
December 5th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
IE is amazing and perfect for this time of year! I love it!
December 5th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
I bought L’Air du Desert Marocain off the strength of the review in ‘Perfumes: the Guide’. It was the best perfume purchase I’ve ever made, but Incense Extreme may yet top it.
December 5th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
Can’t advise as to the tie/no tie quandary, but I CAN say that Incense Extreme is lovely! Fantastic all by itself, of course, but it’s also my secret alchemical weapon for layering on top of any perfumes I try that aren’t so appealing. Thank you again, and I’d love to be entered in today’s drawing…
December 5th, 2008 at 11:07 pm
I have read reviews of Incense Extreme and would love to try it!
December 6th, 2008 at 12:07 am
I had the chance to try incense, it’s gorgeous. Thanks, and no tie.
Meg
December 6th, 2008 at 12:08 am
I adore incense scents and feel that there are not enough on the market. Still, I do manage to own a stack!
December 6th, 2008 at 12:33 am
‘Tis the season for incense, which I love, and which evokes images of velvet and embroidered robes, but to tie!
jamie
December 6th, 2008 at 12:38 am
Wouldn’t a tie plus a t-shirt be funny! Luckily for me no one expects women to wear neckties, they seem very uncomfortable. So I vote for no tie.
December 6th, 2008 at 1:18 am
Alas, I am a bit more formal than a lot of folks….I voted for the tie, unless it’s a really fabulous Egyptian cotton tshirt worn under a jacket…..but then, as I wrote this, I flashed on Miami Vice..
never mind…
xo
December 6th, 2008 at 1:31 am
I’ve sampled Incense Extreme and loved it.
This contest is such fun!
December 6th, 2008 at 1:58 am
I have been chilly all week, and according to The Guide Incense Extreme is evocative of Grand Hotel bathrooms with abundant hot water. A hot bath perfume sounds just the ticket today!
December 6th, 2008 at 2:18 am
I’d love to be in this contest….I’m feeling lucky! I’d love to try the Incense Extreme.
How Nice!!
December 6th, 2008 at 2:27 am
I was lucky enought to try the IE and adored it. I’ve love a chance to win! Thanks for blogging!
December 6th, 2008 at 2:41 am
When my husband kisses me goodbye in the morning, his scent lingers on my cheek for hours. I’d love it if it were Incense Extreme, would you please enter me in today’s drawing !
December 6th, 2008 at 2:50 am
Enter me too!!!
December 6th, 2008 at 2:56 am
Be my Santa! I love incense and want to try this one.
December 6th, 2008 at 3:48 am
Tauer scents rock. I love Lonestar Memories and would love to try Incense Extreme.
December 6th, 2008 at 5:07 am
Andy,
I had the pleasure to spend a summer month in Europe. Of all the countries to which I traveled, Switzerland was the only to leave me with a deep sense of loss and heartache. It did not feel right to leave. Switzerland is incredible and I am truly jealous that you live in such a beautiful country. Lakes, waterfalls, deep blue skies, puffy clouds, and rolling green hills just like a postcard. I went skydiving through the Swiss alps, rode a scooter on a winding mountain road, and hiked inside of a waterfall. Andy, all that I ask is that you please create a scent that embodies the beauty and breathtaking landscape of Switzerland to help mend my broken heart.

Crossing my fingers here…
December 6th, 2008 at 6:14 am
Hi Andy,
Whatever else you wore, hope you wear wearing L’air du Desert…..
I’d like to win this one for myself !
December 6th, 2008 at 6:30 am
Andy,
Both Incense Extreme and Incense Rose are glorious
December 6th, 2008 at 6:33 am
Happy Christmas!
Upon the arrival home from a Christmas Party, I had to check your advent calender.
I am going with the absolutely NO tie whatsoever ~ wear what suits your comfort and
style. At this affair I attended, I had my hair done, was made up like a woman of the
streets…in a long sleeve (festive-colored) tee and jeans that fit. Among friends, the
tie is out; unless that is who you are in your soul.
As for the incense extreme, it sounds ravishing. Funny, I oozed frankincense from my
pores tonight. (I think your advent calender has something to do with that) I live for incense
smells and practically bathe in them.
Congrats on another 4 star fragrance ~ hurrah for the artisan that is you! And congrats to Hotland Linda on her Advent surprise ~ we are all winners, here.
