Simple things
This month’s magazine of the German Duftarchive features Africa, with “L’air du dĂ©sert marocain” finding its place on the High Atlas. And immediately, it is there again, this disease that you can’t be cured off. “male d’Africa”, this desire to visit and come back to mankind’s cradle, Savanah that has seen our first steps on two legs, a trait that allows us to walk more effectively and to watch the sunsets better. Ah well…
For my readers in Germany and Switzerland: here is the link to Duftarchive’s magazine (German) featuring Africa.
And for all readers not familiar with German: I am running around with a 12% dilution of the fragrance that has the working title “gabriel”. Amazing how different it is compared to a previously tried 18% dilution. A touch styrax in the back (soft gentle elegant leather) comes out much more pronounced. There is -in this concentration- a distant relation to the hyacinth and mechanic fragrance. I prefer 18%. There the lily of the valley finds its place better, between the green rose, powdery jasmin and fresh lilac.
Please give me some more time to do some thinking… I have my ideas for this scent but want to allow them to settle first. In the mean time:
Let’s enjoy a peaceful picture from Africa:

The picture is beautiful, serene; looking at it makes my stress melt away. While you are thinking about concentrations I am dreaming of Gabriel and its notes, ahhhh.
P.S. You are in good company there on the Duftarchiv!

Dear Vladimir
greetings to you. What I liked about the photo was the colors: red and blue, the the man wearing a blue shirt. a nice composition
Dear Sabina
Thank you! Yes, in its real size, at higher resolution, you would see the man’s calm and his focus on his fruits that he is pealing with gentle care. By the way: I bought a few and they were great, super tasty.
Dear Simone
= opuntia ;-)
Dear pavlova
Vetiver dance is around the corner… gabriel still somewhat distant ;-)

It is amazing how different dilutions of the same scent brings out different aspects of it.
That picture is so beautiful and I love the blue door and the fruit seller with the blue shirt against it..Its almost poetry..and perfume..:)

Well, Andy - as you are supposed to be sold through the discount shops soon you can come with a new marketing strategy - Tauer Perfume’s - 18% now - 6% more perfume for the same price ;-) And than a kind of “6% free” written in yellow on a red corner of a label ;-)
Funny - you have solved a lot of puzzels playing with accords and made a perfume concentrate. You dilute it to “common” 12 %, let maturate and think it’s ready “as usual”. But than you get a suprise when you try another dilution - I agree with Lavanya - it’s amazing what it brings. Does trying of different concentrations bring the same riddles and surprises as making of an accord? ;-)

Dear Lavanya
Thank you! I must admit: I am glad that I do not work for a big perfume house where I would be forced to make for a every fragrance a edt, edp, perfume, soap, shower gel, and all in a slightly different formula …. I imagine this becomes boring.
Dear AromaX I sometimes think, there are notes /accords where dilution effects are more pronounced, like for instance leather accords (tar, quinoleins, styrax) or animals (castor!)…

Andy- Yes, i can imagine that could be quite boring and not creatively satisfying (I wore my sample of Incense Extreme yesterday and like it even more- you were right- This scent grows on you!!)

Thank you Lavanya, I think, The Incense extreme is even growing bigger in cooler weather.
Have a great weekend
