Clouds

The meditative bottle pouring, planned for yesterday evening, took not place, but instead I found myself meditatively translating English text that describes the idea behind the Vetiver fragrance to German. Which is not easy, even if you have written the English version yourself. Languages differ by more than just words.

I will use the text in the coming days, together with the shop in Zurich, and my point of sales in Germany (Berlin , Munich, Bruchsal) to present the Vetiver dance to a German speaking public, on the internet, for preordering. And I need to talk to the German and Swiss press, in one way or the other. Thus, I needed this text urgently.
While translating and later packing envelops for the post office today, I watched the Dow sink again, wondering where we are heading because we have entered an interesting technical pattern (triangle). Well, I guess: fundamentally, we are still in grey territory. So this one is for Simone… the difference between grey and sunny is a glimpse of an eye.

Beautiful picture as a prove of a simple wisdom of life - after the dark there is always a dawn…
It’s so exciting before the presentation of Vetiver Dance and yes - sometimes it looks like it’s still so much to do ;-) Fortunately you have already the text. Still a lot of work? Or is the most done? Need any help?
I’ve seen that Perfume Shrine had started a Vetiver series.
Andy, be strong, keep it cool and don’t forget to enjoy this exciting time ;-)

    Dear Andy,
concerning the press and introducing Vetiver to the world, I have no fears nor second thoughts. You will accomplish your goal because I am pretty sure you will do it with passion. The word of the week is passion. Share it with them like you do it here with us, and it will be a success.
Translating to German…that my friend, we cannot really help you, at least this lady can’t. All I can do is wish you luck and send a good warm hug so you will know WE, All your readers, are there with you.
Gray - yeah, you are right…it is up to us to see the sun shining behind the clouds.
I believe we all have a little shinning light in us, sometimes it is shinning bright, sometimes it is fading away…
I love gray, specially graffitti. The thing is, in English we say we have the blues, I would say I had the grays this weekend. It happens to all of us. Thanks G we have people around us blowing the clouds away for us when we are not that capable.
So thank you dear for showing me the path behind the clouds. I will take a better look at it.
Please, do not tell me you and Mr. W still are laughing at me…I will start to blush again.
Probably if I will tell you what I though about the scent and the yellow ribbon you will also laugh.
good luck and a huge warm lavander kiss,
    Simone

    Dear Andy, excellent photo!
I envy you. I wish to be closer to this fog, I did not leave city three years.
Conversation with German and Swiss press takes place already soon?

    simone - magnificent post,BRAVO!
And I too very much love grey color.

    Hi Andy,

I suppose it’s all in how you’re looking at the Dow. There’s a definite downward trend of about 15% over the past year and I believe that’s where it’s headed, though I predict a rather healthy surge around the presidential elections. Looking long however I don’t think it has anywhere to go but up, it’s just a matter of how quickly the market cycles. This is the first time the market’s even thought about taking a dip in four or five years so I’m cautiously optimistic.

And that is a very cool picture. :D

  5. Andy Says:

    Dear Daniel
Great: I am cautiously pessimistic when it comes to the DOW, it guess indeed ….it is the perspective that matters. But I have my doubts that the 15% you mentioned are the bottom line. I feel that today’s cocktail is somewhat too toxic to get over it without a few more victims.

    Dear Vladimir
The conversation SHOULD take place, but it is me who is somewhat behind schedule…
    Dear Simone
thank you so much for elaborate, detailed, lovely post. Thus, let’s all send some fresh air into this world, blowing the grey clouds far away.

Trust me: we did not laugh…just smiled ;-)

    Dear AromaX
I think there is no need for help, except that I need sometimes someone telling me that I do not need to do everything right now, today…but I am working on it.
    A big hug to you.

    Hi Andy,

I have found that translations don’t work too well when one speaks multiple languages - it’s easier for me to just start from scratch and re-write the piece in each language.

Loved the picture! I wish I were there right now instead of in an air-conditioned windowless office building in San Diego. :-)

    Mwah,
    Tara

Fog, I love fog! I love it when it descends, I love it when it lifts, I just love it. Magical. Beautiful mountain and very cold up there!
As far as translating you paper, I have to agree with Tara: start from scratch and write in your own language, put down your thoughts as they come to you in German. Wishing you best of luck here.
With Daniel, I am looking forward to the ‘healthy surge’ around election time. So, here’s to looking at the glass as half full, let’s toast to that.

  8. ScentScelf Says:

Glad you were able to find meditation in translation…it is never smooth, but at best a hiccuping dance for me! :)

  9. andy Says:

    Dear Tara
I think I experienced the same in the past. What helped was the W.-factor who hasn’t written the text and hence starts sort of from scratch , too ;-)
    Dear Sabina
Indeed, cold for August, but up there it can be winter anytime…. A toast to/with the glass half filled. It could be worse indeed
    CHEERS

    Dear ScentScelf
or like a walk in the white sands desert, empty, white surface because you can’t figure out the right words…
    hehehe
