links etc.

Yesterday, in light of an increasing number of mails in my inbox with red flags (which translates into “To Answer”) I went jogging in the woods, for 30 minutes or so. Because I did not do much more than writing on the computer keyboard in the office (2nd job) all day long and I felt for a change.

Back home I continued and decided to make it public today: No more samples left of the vetiver. Sorry. Mi dispiace. Can’t help it. Won’t help if you ask. ;-)
So I went jogging and still energized I went to bed, with not much more in mind than “vetiver” and suddenly I realized that I need to start putting bottles into boxes by early September to ship in the first half September to the US, which means I need to get labels by then. It takes a couple of weeks to get the labels, which means I have to prepare the layout tomorrow as this is the last day where I can get it done before my vacation. The few days before the holidays are booked out.
Which means: I have to decide on the name by ….tomorrow.

So I laid in bed, coming to the conclusion that (yes Mr. T. and others…… I know. Now you are disappointed !) this scent needs an unpretentious name, and that it does not really matter in the end ;-), and that Vetiver dance is my favorite, because it is simple , yet evocative, and that my vetiver fragrance is like a dance around and with vetiver, and that folks will talk about the “tauer vetiver (witout dance) “anyway like they talk about l’air and order air ….and I remembered the “vetiver dance” in AromaX’s post about the fragrance.
So here is the link to AromaX’s review of the vetiver scent on his blog. Enjoy.

Wow, I am really deeply touched to see you’ve put the link on your blog. Thank you. You made my day from the very early morning ;-)

It’s funny how it works when you think something up like a name for a new fragrance and doubt if it’s the best one and look to the better alternatives and think up some more… and than by accident come back to the very first one… Conclusion: don’t underestimate the power of the first impression/first suggestion

I have regrets for Khus and Ushira… When you suggested Vetiver dance I was asking myself (and you) who the dancers were and what dance they did? I found the answers within your fragrance. Well – Vetiver Dance – welcome to the world and good luck ! Congratulations Andy with your newborn creation that has a name now !

P.S. By the way – the link seems not to work correctly. I think “ce.html” is missing at the end (like cut off).

  2. andy Says:

    Thank You AromaX
The link is already corrected! I wish you a nice day!

  3. Mikael Says:

Congratulations Andy! Name, the essence of the fragrance (from written descriptions) and the graphics of the flyer come together beautifully. Looking forward to trying it in October.
PS. Incense rosé has been a source of many sniffs ending with a smile this summer :)

  4. Jeff Says:

Maybe “Vetiver Dances Around Grapefruit” :) Also good name and will attract more people, coz they will know there’s not only vetiver, but grapefruit also, many people like it :) So u will get more customers :))))

  5. andy Says:

hehehe… Jeff, good idea, but then we have to say vetiver dance with grapefruit and clary sage and pepper and …. and then it will be more a ballet than a dance.
By the way, I owe you an e-mail answer.. follows later!

  6. Jeff Says:

Yes yes :)) I’m expecting e-mail from u when u have time :) I just mean the marketing sense - when u say Vetiver - people think it’s all about vetiver, but as i read in reviews (my sample still on the its way to me) there’s also grapefruit and others :))
Well, there’s also an option: “Vetiver, Grapefruit, Clary Sage, Pepper and other friends :)”, hehehe, long, but innovative name in the perfumery world :)))

  7. dinazad Says:

Oh, I’m really happy to read that it will be “Vetiver dance” after all. It fits the fragrance so well! Because it does dance (and sing, and giggle and whisper and lure you into secret places). It’s beautiful, thank you so much for my sample!

  8. Marianne Says:

Yes Andy and welcome to the world Vetiver dance !

Last night I put the leaflet drenched with Vetiver dance next to my bed and before falling asleep words like bonheur, joie and joy went through my mind and then I dozed off to dreamland.

  9. Stephan Says:

Thank you so much for sending me your unnamed Vetiver cloud that seems to have gotten its name in the meantime. So now you can move on to market this fragrant wonder. However, I’m shedding a tear for your lovely Jangala that was so innocently playful like the virgin forest, where familiar and strange scents are dancing and playing around. Luckily one name or another won’t change the fragrant impression a bit.

  10. Matt S Says:

Congratulations, Andy!! I can’t wait to dance with your vetiver.

  11. andy Says:

    Dear Mikael
Thank you and I hope that the Incense rosé will enlighten your long winter nights, too ;-)

    Dear Dinazad
Great you got it. I just hope you will like it…..

Dear Marianne, vetiver dreams…. how lovely.

Dear Stefan, I join you, letting in a little crocodile tear flow over my cheeks, and dream of a true jangala scent with lots of dangerous jungle animals ;-)
I am sure, one day we will come up with the perfect scent for JANGALA!

    Dear Matt
my pleasure! Let’s see what this dance is going to be like (tango, waltz, disco….)

  12. Vladimir Says:

Yes… Dear Andy and still it will be Vetiver dance!
Well, and why also is not present, we remember, that the best it the enemy good and named simply Vetiver by Guerlain is fine, despite of the simple name.

  13. GalileosDaughter Says:

    Congratulations, Andy!

I have been enjoying this vetiver pavane, one step backward and two forward. Today you move forward, and I predict it will be to much success.

Warmest wishes. I hope you have a restful and rejuvenating holiday!

  14. Kelley Says:

Congratulations Andy! You did it! Naming something can be very difficult especially for those that are perfectionists.

  15. Blume Says:

  16. TRex Says:

“Vetiver Dance” works for me. It’s simple and lovely.

(yes Mr. T. and others…… I know. Now you are disappointed !)

HA! If that’s the most disappointing thing that happens to me all day today, I’ll be in great shape!

    Can’t wait to smell it!

  17. risa Says:

Congratulations, Andy, and good luck on getting the labels done and out before you leave! Have a wonderful vacation!

  18. andy Says:

    Dear Risa
I give my best…but before that I have to send these huge fat big parcels out ;-)

    Dear TRex
Ufff, then I am relieved ;-) I had (almost) a bad conscience, running through the woods again yesterday and wondering how you are doing.

    Liebe V. Blume

  19. andy Says:

Dear Kelley , yes: Habemus nomen. hehehe ;-)
The rest will come by itself!

Dear Vladimir, indeed : Guerlain’s Vetiver is still a reference. And a perfect name!

Dear GalileosDaughter, thank you and fragrant greetings to you!

  20. Ben Says:

Thanks again for the sample, Andy! And thanks for creating another wonderful fragrance.

To be honest, I don’t yet know what I think about the top notes, which are dominated by an amazing black pepper (perhaps that should be BLACK PEPPER!) burst, backed by grapefruit (it smells wonderful, but I’m not sure it’s me, if you know what I mean). But I love the way the perfume develops as the vetiver emerges from its depths. As someone who didn’t like the name “Vetiver Dance” in the abstract, I now see that it is perfect for this perfume. We should have trusted your nose, Andy! This is a very green, very intriguing scent that seems ideal for this rainy summer day here in Germany. Like your other perfumes, this one takes me on a journey that reveals new aspects of accords that I’ve admired in other fragrances. It’s totally (and wonderfully) different from my beloved Guerlain Vetiver.

  21. andy Says:

    Dear Ben
I thank you very much for your detailed and thorough appreciation. I think I understand you very well. The BLACK PEPPER is surely present, very present indeed. I am especially glad that you find the name fitting. This is wonderful!
    Have a wonderful day

  22. Elizabeth Says:

    Dear Andy,

I love the name! And I can’t wait to try it…I missed out on the samples, but I am a patient soul. I hope it comes out soon, though! By the bye, I am carrying on a full-on love affair with l’air du dĂ©sert marocain…it’s pure heaven in a bottle. Thank you for such a marvelous creation!
