the golden ribbon
After a few modifications, such as making the flower picture on page one a little bit larger and some text adjustments: We are getting there.
The golden ribbon fits perfectly. Now it is up to the teacher doing the German language corrections!
Who wants to get this prototype (with a complete sample set, of course!)? Please leave a comment. I will draw the prototype winner in the next days.
Love it!

Who wouldn’t want a prototype? I’ll proudly begin the queue!
June 19th, 2008 at 9:56 am
Goodmorning Andy,
I would prepare a vetiver pesto pasta with a vetiver salad and eat it! Just to get this wonderful sample set.
Marianne :-D

Dear Dinazad
Greetings to you and a wonderful sunny day. I am glad you made the start.
Dear Marianne
No need to eat vetiver roots… you are in the drawing, with my greatest pleasure!
June 19th, 2008 at 10:17 am
Wow! Sample set! Of course i want to try any new creation of Andy Tauer!
June 19th, 2008 at 10:21 am
Jupieh, Jeff. The samples are existing fragrances, the sample set is German, but let’s keep fingers crossed that you will be the winner and it will make it to your place….
June 19th, 2008 at 10:38 am
Dear Andy,It is very a pity, that sample set only is German. I too very much wish to participate and receive prototype is it would be wonderful. Who from us will not want to receive it???
I have received yesterday in a gift “Guide”-it the excellent, excellent book!
A card with Incense rosé at once purloin my daughter and all arrangements to return it to me were ineffectual :-)
yours Air du désert marocain - five stars; Lonestar Memories - four stars is certainly deserved recognition.
All trio Vero - four stars.
My congratulations and Hugs to you and to Vero.

dear Vladimir
Congratulations to you: Your daughter has excellent taste! Who will win the sample set? Fortuna will tell!
Dear Chayaruchama
I have never come accross greedy Ida. Who on earth could this be;-)
I only know Ida the gentle and modest. Mwah!

Hi Andy,
Amazing that you’ve made it all so soon. Like you’ve been in the FLOW ;-)
I do like the prototype. It’s nice to see that it’s in the same style (even the same box?) as your fragrances: the box, the ribbon and a card. I do like the words you’ve chosen, although I don’t catch the difference between verzaubern and betören - there is a difference, but I can’t sense it yet.
I’d really like to see the cards closer - very curious for the text you’ve chosen.
Well - a very nice creation - a good gift for a lover of niche perfumery or a perfumaniac. Also nice to give when you present your fragrances to someone (a seller) - When you present a giftbox it gives a different impression than when you just give a bunch of samples.
And yes, your fragrances are really worth the golden ribbon. And I wish you be thinking about the colour of the ribbon for your secont sample set very soon - I mean go with the flow of your creativity ;-)

Dear Aroma X
Thank you! I include you into the drawing. Well verzaubern und betören. They are close, very close indeed, but verzaubern has a magic annotation and betören goes together with Sinne betören which then gives this annotation of flying away in trance… at least in my grey matter.
The text is straight forward:
Page 1 and 4 have the reader as object. page 2 and 3 have the scents as object.
Fragrant greetings to you!

Who would not want to be the lucky one ? I wish everyone else will get it, and I would wait for an unlikely accident, when a forgotten Orris or the Mechanic would be included inadvertently in such a sample, together with screwdrivers, oil cans and fragrant liquids I’ve never heard of. A novel experience for me. Good luck to everyone!
June 19th, 2008 at 1:28 pm
The sample set looks simply elegant, like all your creations.
Worthy of a golden ribbon, indeed!
Of course, I would be over the moon would it land on my doorstep.
Best wishes to you.
June 19th, 2008 at 1:31 pm
Thank you very much for your explanation and giving the text. I think I understand - betören is when you really charmed by a beautiness for example. And the charming power of verzaubern comes from a spell of a potion. Well, Andy - I do really like an idea of perfume as a potion that verzoubert ;-)
Good text - gives an idea of an unique product made with love and attention in the best traditions of perfume art. It’s exclusive and worth to be a special gift.
When I read “Er ist ein unabhängiger Parfumeur und folgt nur seiner Nase” I have to think about your picture when you sit on the window and my impression of it - yes, I dare to sit on the window and I dare to make my own perfume ;-)
Nothing more to add, just - Good Luck - it’s GREEN ! ;-)
June 19th, 2008 at 1:57 pm
Dear Stefan
you are in for the drawing, with greatest pleasure! .. without promise for a mechanic or a hyacinth, though ;-)
Dear GalileosDaughter
And best wishes to you! I just came back from Pascal, the shop owner of the shop in Zurich, and it passed his careful test. Thus, just the W.-factor test is left for the orthography….
Dear AromaX
SuperGREEN!
June 19th, 2008 at 2:29 pm
Like Donkey in Shrek she’s saying: me, me, pick me! And doesn’t the package look beautiful!
June 19th, 2008 at 2:34 pm
oh, just to be included on the list, what a gift! the mere anticipation of new, wonderful scents twirling around in my head makes me giggle with pure delight. best of luck to all of us-we’ve won already! merci andy.

Dear Justine
With my greatest pleasure! Have a wonderful day!
June 19th, 2008 at 5:04 pm
Hi Andy, I’d love to be entered in the drawing. Your L’air du DĂ©sert Marocain is the smell of my summer so far, and I can’t image a season smelling better. I discovered L’air last year when I was reading Dune by Frank Herbert. It takes place on the desert planet Arrakis, and sniffed L’air regularly while reading :) I’ve since taken to associating places and characters from books with specific fragrances. No one said I’m not weird. Anyhow, thanks for making such amazing scents!
June 19th, 2008 at 5:08 pm
Dear Rod
First: Thank you for sharing. I guess Dune reading is about as good as it gets when it comes to Air du dĂ©sert marocain…. You must try Konstantin’s fragrances! (talking associations, here!) I will with pleasure add you to the growing list.
June 19th, 2008 at 5:22 pm
Fabulous work Andy! I love the whole feel and vibe of this design! Exceptional work as always!:)
June 19th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
You know Andy, I have been looking at the final result, first photo and I miss something: your name printed in larger letters. I have seen ‘Tauer Perfumes Musterset’ but to my feeling of heart ‘Andy Tauer’ should be written there separately somehow.
Tauer Perfumes Musterset sounds so businesslike and is in too much contrast with the nice description.
June 20th, 2008 at 4:48 am
Andy, you have such a way with words. The complexity and elegant nuances behind the meaning of your creations are fully understood (and beloved). Please enter me in the drawing as well.
June 20th, 2008 at 5:47 am
Dear Dimitri
Thank you so much. I trust you as an expert very much! The vibe…another good name for a patchouli fragrance ;-)
Dear Marianne
I was considering, but then I got reluctant . First, it says andy tauer all over the place (in the texts) and then… somehow it did not feel right to go larger letters. It would not be my style. I hope you understand. You know… understatement… shy Andy etc. ;-)
Dear Zeram1
You are in and I thank you for your lovely words, too! Fragrant waves and vibes to you.
June 20th, 2008 at 6:43 am
GrĂĽĂźe aus New York, Andy! I think for me, the distinction between verzaubern and betören is a matter of action! Verzaubern, to me, always implied a seducer, like the Heart song “Magic Man. *giggle* Betören struck me as something that could happen inadvertently, like a flower’s perfume being a happy accident of evolution.
And I love your daisies! Better than a Warhol, I insist.
I don’t need to be in your drawing, but I would love to see larger pictures!
June 20th, 2008 at 7:07 am
Indeed, Risa, there is something to what you just said! Greetings to you in NY. OK , I won’t include you in the drawing, sneeeef ;-) I will make the pictures available in larger dimensions…
June 20th, 2008 at 8:43 am
Andy, of course I understand.
If I were a graphic designer I would design a tiny logo for you, with a diameter of less than 1 cm. Just your modest signature. For example your name written in Sanskriet.
Just feeling the Doo-ah today! ;D
June 20th, 2008 at 12:26 pm
I couldn’t miss such a contest :) please enter me in :)
these flowers - so simple, so beautiful, so energetic!
June 20th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Dear Elve
I thank you so much for your lovely words. :-)
You are in the drawing, of course!
June 20th, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Dear Marianne
Enjoy your Doo-ah’s and please make sure that you capture my fragrant greetings ;-)
June 20th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
I debated with myself for a while whether it would be bad manners to enter this drawing without having ever posted at your blog before, but decided the offer was to good to let go! :-) (By the way, I live in Norway, but as far as I understand from earlier post, this is not a concern?)
I’ve followed your blog for a while and have to say I find your descriptions of the work you do with your perfumes (everything from making uo new perfumes to marketing and such) interesting. Most of all I like your descriptions of the actual making of the juice fascinating, it makes such a striking contrast between the chemistry-like mixing and the ethereal qualities of fragrances.
Best wishes for you vetiver-scent!
June 21st, 2008 at 9:23 am
Dear Torunn
Greetings from Zurich and a thank you for your post! In the contrary: I appreciate your comment and include you with joy into the drawing.
Norway is first a wonderful place (I did cycle holidays a couple of year sago up there) and it for sure is not a concern.
Have a wonderful day
June 22nd, 2008 at 7:09 pm
Indeed, who wouldn’t want the prototype Andy Tauer Discovery Set? Is it too late to throw my name into the drawing?
It turned out really, really lovely!
June 22nd, 2008 at 7:12 pm
Dear Molly, it is never too late! I will pick the winner tomorrow…thus: Good luck and a wonderful evening to you
June 23rd, 2008 at 8:53 am

Andy:
I just received a sample of Vetiver Dance from www.luckyscent.com and I am simply blown away! Congratulations on the creation of such a beautifully evocative fragrance. I have recently become “addicted” to custom crafted niche fragrances ( having discovered wonderful scents from Nasomatto, Profumum, Ulrich lang…), and your work has captivated me. Thank you for your commitment to the art & science of scent from a new “fan”!
