un update on the muguet or gabriel 8.0

This post is about greeeeeeeen stuff. And Gabriel.
While we are all inspiring each other coming up with names for the vetiver (with vetiver dance, khus being favorites, I guess…): A little update on the muguet trials. There was time last weekend to look into it again.

The muguet trials run since the very beginning under the code name “gabriel” in my excel. The latest trial you would find under Gabriel 8.0 Don’t ask me why. It is like that.
It is complex, green, very green, aehmmm soooooo greeeeeeen, and much better then 7.0. I left the core structure intact, but shifted towards Mayol, phenylethylalcohol, added more jasmine absolute and salicylates and: more aldehydes. ah yes, more rose absolute, too, in order to round it up. Ah yes, and I introduced a soft hint of sandalwood. What needs to be done next? hmmm: I guess down again with Mayol. And maybe up a little bit with ambroxan to lift it a little bit. We will see in a couple of weeks.
What is amazing about this one: It lasts forever. And it is in all its greenness soft and gentle after the first 5 min. When Gabriel enters the scene, he has his shining sword in his strong hands, and the silver line shines in his hand, lightening his golden hair, reminding us that we are save.
And, in order to make this a true web 2.0 experience, I sniff my latest trial at 25% dilution, sitting in the train, watching youtube and listening to the lyrics of Lamb’s GABRIEL. Enjoy.

The way you are describing it and the name - enough to fall in love with it.
Will there be a kind of public pre-testing? ;-)

Back, back to the earth - both feet on the ground (talking to myself). First I go and check what Mayol is and how it smells. Sounds like a Muguet base to me.

    Dear Risa
when I heard this song the first time, I started crying immediately. True. It was so touching right this moment, back then. And still today, its lyrics are …[searching for words ] …
    Dear Aromax
thank you. I will show it to Vero soon. And, as I trust her judgment blind, I will discuss with her what’s next. ….we will see.

Andy I am no scientist at all, but the smell of green can never be too much - may it last short while, may it last for a long time - it is one of those smells that belong in our lives, the smell of green is a basic need like the light of the sun and the freshness of water.

This morning when I leaned out of the window of my appartment, all I could smell was wet cold stone, wet cold asphalt, car exhausts less strong than usual and city smells like food being prepared. I did not smell anything green and I missed that!!

    Also what a wonderful video.

Andy, this sounds so fantastic. I am wondering if it is more of a unisex scent with so much green going on. What do you think? Could a guy get away with wearing it? Or, should I break out my high heals?

Vero… it’s a pity I haven’t made an appointment with her when I’ve been to Zurich. From all the rumours I understand she is a fascinating woman and a wonderfull perfumer. I also understand you respect and value her opinion highgly. I’m curious what would be her “verdict” to Gabriel.
