smiling like a happy horse

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

Following the article in Schweizer Familie, I found a data CD in my letter box sent by the photographer who took the pictures. What a darling. Thank you, Tina!

In order to see more pictures made by Tina Steinauer, please follow this link to the Tina Steinauer home page and click on “Tina Steinauer”. Enjoy!

If you haven’t seen enough: Here are some pictures more of the perfumer in his white shirt. Those of you who attended my little speech in LA know about my posing in the window. But now, that I have seen the result: I love it.  Indeed, I rarely sit in windows when composing or doing anything else. As a matter of fact, I never sit in windows these days. But maybe I should… and heck: I don’t sit on my table smiling like a happy horse when composing. Working with scents is a serious business. Thus, I guess a little bit of posing is ok.
Which one do you like best? I like the last picture the best….. or the first one….playing with scents.

The question of all questions

Monday, April 14th, 2008

Wow, what a weekend. Sunny, warm and promising more for May, and I think I never boxed that many boxes over a weekend.
Which is great for several reasons: First I like to have stock these days, second I like to put bottles into boxes and flyers onto boxes and ribbons around it because it is highly meditative. In a sense it helps a lot getting rid of  a right brain half that is quite often too loud, worrying about all these things that it should not worry. Like “have I paid the bills” and “what is happening tomorrow”. (If you are interested in learning more about right and left brain sides: Visit Roxana’s blog and follow the link there…-> Watching the TED video was the first thing I did on Sunday after one cup of coffee and it for sure made my Sunday, replacing church in a sense)
Thus, after an hour you enter this wobbly state of mind where ideas pop up like tulips in April, from the next fragrance to the newsletter that you always wanted to produce to the question of all questions: How to fix lily of the valley and make it last. The last question is still unanswered.

the W.-factor found the link

Saturday, April 12th, 2008

To be honest: I didn’t even look for a link to the Schweizer Familie article on the three perfumers.

Stupid me. But luckily there is the W.-factor who looked for it and found it. Thus, here we go: following this link you come to the text version in German of the article on Tauer Perfumes, Vero Profumo and Maurus Bachmann of Luzi AG: Full article

And following this link you get a view of Andy in his white shirt….

Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend.

TGIF

Friday, April 11th, 2008

Thank God it’s Friday. Not that my weekend would look differently to today, though.

I am packing fragrances, L’air du dĂ©sert marocain today, Lonestar Memories yesterday, l’air tomorrow and maybe some Incense extrĂȘme that I need to bottle first.
In the mean time, as I do not have more to tell you: Here’s a reading recommendation on Risa’s blog on the Incense rosĂ©. This link will bring you there, to Risa’s perfumista blog….-> (enjoy)

to keep up…
Today’s post is short: Just a little announcement that finally, Hurray!, the “Schweizer Familie” article with the three perfumer portraits appeared. Vero from Vero Profumo, Maurus from Luzi AG, and Andy from Tauer Perfumes. This is great news, as 1. it is very well written, 2. the picture is nice; although they did not pick the one where I had to pose, trousers on, in the window, and 3. the Incense rosĂ© bottle turned out beautiful.
Thus, we wait for the Swiss TV Tauer thing to happen. Originally scheduled for Tuesday, then for Wednesday, but on both days news worthy accidents and other things happened….now we hope for a peaceful day on planet earth, boring and leaving room for 5 min on a Swiss perfumer ;-)

Hirschmann

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

The newest toy in the family:  A Hirschmann pumping-dispensing device: Solvent resistant (we are talking high tech ceramics!), easy to clean, hopefully lasting for semi-eternity and for the first time in use today.

Thanks to my new toy and the fragrance finally matured, the Lonestar Memories shortage should be a thing of the past by tonight.

With the 2 liter bottle attached to it: 40 x 50 ml of Lonestar Memories will be pumped out per batch, clean and almost effortless, faster than a cowboy can smoke a cigarette. Or drink his beer. Well, that’s the plan at least….

I was there

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

When walking over ice on the roads like yesterday’s morning in Berne, trying carefully not to fall on the parcel with my fragrant babies, the days in California look like a dream to me.

LA
so I was in LA (and even got a parking ticket ;-( )

slowly

Monday, April 7th, 2008

slowly, quite slowly indeed we are getting back to normal, here in Zurich. Saturday saw me and Vero in our preferred hotel lobby doing some sniffing, accompanied by a camera from the Swiss TV. And with this scene, everything is ready to be aired.
If things go right, then this week is going to be really exciting!

To start with: I read (thank you again, Maria!!!) in the April US Allure of Luca Turin’s and Tania Sanchez weeding scents. Guess what: Luca Turin wore the L’air du dĂ©sert marocain, as can be read in the contributor’s note in April’s Allure.
And equally exciting: I got a picture from Morocco, featuring Brahim  with the Incense extrĂȘme. Isn’t this a lovely picture? Watch these eyes!

I will post more pictures, not from the Moroccan desert, but from the Cali/Mojave desert soon. I just need to recover from posing for the Swiss TV ;-)

signs of life

live from the desert….

I was so busy enjoying the nature around me, and the sun around me, hiking, jogging, sleeping in the sun, and eating pancakes and steaks, that I could not squeeze in 5 min for my blog writing. Tomorrow is going to be the last day here in 29 Palms and then I will fly East again. And once I am home, you may expect me posting again on Monday next week.

Life is great these days on the West coast. And as life would be great on this beautiful country’s East coast, I want to be present with my products there, too. You know: NY is just a great place to be! Therefore, it is my pleasure to announce that from now on, Tauer Perfumes are available at Aedes de Venustas . And the Aedes folks made really nice pictures of the flacons, as you may see here, following this link. And I think, I have the perfect excuse to visit New York again, one of these days…..

Until then: Desert greetings to you all
