Gold leaves

Please make sure you are checking in tomorrow! Starting tomorrow, this blog will feature sand dunes, a mountain and a few surprises.

But beforehand: I continue wondering about luxury these days, now that a super-trooper perfume is launched exclusively in Zurich. Super trooper as it tops what we have defined so far as luxury; we are talking Murano glass, Teak wood, Chinese silk and gold leaves: Xerjoff.
This is what I read today early in the morning at 7  in the newspaper, and with a brain still trying to get acquainted to the concept of getting up early I start wondering where we are heading with all these luxury things going on around us and that maybe it would be time for a contra punto. Something subversive, like a fragrance that everyone wants, that is selling for almost nothing, but that you can not get if you are an oligarch or otherwise rich.

And I think about another contra punto: Make a really good, rich fragrance, with lots of really good rich ingredients, reduce the entire packaging to a glass bottle and nothing else. The simplest bottle you can get. And sell this as zero fancy line.

Ah, Andy of a photo - excellent also I am is extremely intrigued and interested. Health to your nose and an excellent weekend. The best regards from Siberia.
P.S. to you there has begun travel the elf-cowboy and I worry, whether it will reach up to Zurich, not having lost on road a head:)

    Dear Vladimir
your words are lovely and charming and one day, one day you have to come to Zurich (or I have to fly east!). I am curious about the elf-cowboy! and will see that on his way west he will meet a fragrant package flying east! Hugs to you.

I love the idea of an anti-luxe perfume as so many scents seem to be coming out that are just overdone, overblown, over-the-top, and over-priced. You could lead a Fragrance Revolution!

I’m in complete agreement with you on the score of excellence paired w/ simplicity.

There is a lot of ‘ubertreiben’ out there-
It doesn’t sell me, that’s for certain.
You know how I love to ‘peel the onion’…

Kisses to you, your proboscis, and W…

Hello, Andy. A gorgeous fragrance doesn’t need Murano to make it a work of art. What counts is the juice. I love your works of art. I look forward to the sand dunes. Someday I should photograph some too. I certainly have plenty of them around.

Now that’s an interesting point: a fragrance you can not buy if you’re rich. Hey, I like this idea!

I have to admit I like pretty bottles, I don’t (at all) like anything of the kind you’ve described. I wouldn’t part with my money for a bottle made from Murano glass with gold leaves and more. Not even if I liked the content. There are too many affordable (and really good) perfumes available. Maybe if I were in the rich camp I’d be more tempted because it wouldn’t dent my money bag.

    Beautiful picture, like always.

What a beautiful sunset! You said it-that *is* true luxury.(I feel suddenly, entirely grateful that I am moved by beauty be it a drop of perfume or a golden sunset like the one in that picture)

    Dear Matt
I am sitting here in the Storchen hotel, waiting for Vero, and I can tell you….anti-luxe will be a topic of our conversation, like it has been for many times now.
    Dear Chayaruchama
übertreiben ist nur der Vorname ;-)
There seems to be an irrational exuberance happening when it comes to sniffing these days ….
    Dear Maria
I love dunes and whenever I am on top of one, or at the bottom…I take pictures like crazy. AH…. I just remember white sands. Now these are the perfect white hilly downs….
    Dear Sabina
hehehe….. if I were in the rich camp, I would probably buy my perfume at Walmart’s, because then THIS would make me special compared to my rich friends who buy all this expensive stuff…..
    Dear Lavanya
Thank you! and fragrant greetings to you.
