Wild things

I am at a conference today. Thus, no perfumery work.
The soul is still slowly travelling back from the mountains and the wonderful natural fragrances up there. Like wild thyme (I think it is wild thyme) that you find there around every corner. A fragrance that -compared to the variety I used to grow in my garden- is rougher and more herbaceous. Less sophisticated, earthier, too. It is as if the rough environment is mirrored. Crushing the leavings fills the air between your fingers with a wild mountain green spicy delight.

Time to run out of the house….

Thyme wild (wild thyme, seen above flums at about 1200 m above sea)

I remember retracing Roman steps with great excitement, crushing wild herbs underfoot, and tucking tiny bits into my pockets…

A year later, I opened the suitcase, and could still smell vestiges emanating from my jacket.
    What a delight.
kisses to you, W, and the soulful Verochen.

Andy, your country is beautiful…I recall vistas from when we visited just like the pics in the last two posts that you took…I wonder what that’s like, living in such grandeur. Even the highways were wonders.

Andy, I was once in the French Alps, and I still carry the memory of how at various levels you’d have purple, white, and yellow flowers, but they were different species of plants at each level–in those three colors. Would you believe, I didn’t stop to smell anything? That was at least 25 years ago; I’ve changed my ways.

    Dear Maria
we all do! There was I time in my life when I would go to discount perfumeries, too! I think, there is the right time at one\’s life to do the right thing.
When hiking, I was amazed again, how you pass through a couple of vegetation zones within an hour. You start in the woods, with lush green plants that do not seem to have to fight too much. and then, half an hour later, you are in the rocks, with lichen patches and a few tough plants, fighting for their life and making sure that they make good use of every day allowing them to grow. And then….suddenly you see a butterfly up there! And ants, and the closer you go and the more intense you look you see more. Amazing. Hugs to you.

    Dear Chayaruchama
Kisses back to you and a big hug! Yes…what a delight!
    Dear Arhianrad
Thank you. And yes…we build beautiful highways, but trust me: The closer you get to them the more cars you see ;-)
